Hello my name is Angie Groniger, I worked in sales for several years, however I have always loved cake decorating!
I decorated my first cake (my birthday cake) when I was about 8 years old using one of the metal cans of icing with the 4 little tips. I continued to do cakes for family and friends making my first wedding cake when I was a sophomore in high school.
I took my first cake decorating class in my junior year from a local cake supply store and loved it. A few years later I took all three of the Wilton method classes and started teaching for Wilton in 1989. I taught for Wilton for over 25 years in 4 different states.
I opened my licensed cake shop in 2000 making cakes, cookies, pies and candy. I finally figured out that the “real” money was in wedding cakes so I switched to all weddings in 2007. I have sure improved from my first cake and love seeing all the new techniques and how the styles have changed over the years.
I have been married for 27 years. I loved that no matter where we moved with my husbands work I was always able to put my cake decorating skills to work because everyone needs a cake! I also love that cake decorating allowed me to stay home and homeschool our 2 children (who are both now in college) and still make money.
My Favorite Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe
8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
1/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
3 cups sifted powdered sugar (You can decrease this amount if you don't care about it being as stiff for piping)
1/2 cup cocoa powder
Mix cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy. Mix in powdered sugar, one cup at a time. Mix in cocoa powder.
